Bonny LGA Chairman Injects N14.5 Million into Cultural Groups to Boost Yuletide Economy

Ahead of the Christmas season, Bonny Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, DSSRS, has approved an additional N14.5 million to support cultural groups across the LGA under the Cultural Support Fund initiative. The total funding now stands at N38 million.
The move is part of efforts to leverage Bonny’s rich cultural heritage to boost the yuletide economy, attract tourists, and create opportunities for local businesses during the festive season.
Chairman Pepple said the initiative is aimed at positioning Bonny as a tourism hub in the Niger Delta, adding that promoting cultural events during Christmas will stimulate economic growth across communities.
The funds will be distributed among Ukemkpa Nwaotam Societies and cultural groups in villages including Finima, Abalamabie, Kalaibiama, Oloma, Kuruama, and others, with amounts ranging from N500,000 to N1.5 million.
The official presentation of the funds is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Government Lodge, Bonny, bringing together cultural leaders to celebrate and kickstart the festive activities.
The initiative underscores Bonny LGA’s commitment to ensuring that the Christmas season delivers not just joy, but also tangible economic benefits for residents and local enterprises.
