Akoh Day Celebration

The Akoh Day Celebration is a grand annual cultural festival held every 28th December in the historic Akoh Ancient Kingdom. This momentous occasion commemorates the coronation of the kingdom’s revered monarch, His Majesty, Eze (Hon.) Cassidy O. W. Ikegbidi, JP, AP, FICAN, FCIAP (Chartered), Eze Igbu-Akoh II, the Natural Ruler of the Akoh people.

Each year, the palace comes alive with color, rhythm, and tradition as elders, chiefs, women, youths, friends, and well-wishers from across the region and beyond converge to pay homage and celebrate the kingdom’s enduring unity and heritage.

Every community within Akoh Kingdom is represented through captivating cultural displays that showcase the area’s rich traditions including masquerade performances, traditional wrestling, music, and dance.

For visitors and cultural enthusiasts, Akoh Day offers an extraordinary window into the spirit of the Niger Delta, where royal grandeur meets communal festivity. It stands as a proud testament to the resilience, harmony, and cultural splendor of the Akoh people.
