Ken Saro Wiwa Memorial Park

Located in Bori, this park honors the legacy of Ken Saro-Wiwa, the writer and activist who championed the rights of the Ogoni people. It serves as a place of reflection, featuring his final resting place, monuments, and artworks that tell his story. Visitors come to pay tribute, learn about his life, and connect with the history of the Niger Delta.

Bonny Consulate Building

Originally built in 1897 and now carefully recreated, the Bonny Consulate Building is a symbol of the island’s rich heritage. It once served as a colonial consulate and today stands as a cultural and tourism center. Inside, visitors will find a museum, library, café, souvenir shop, and exhibition spaces that celebrate Bonny’s history and traditions.

Aluu

Aluu, near Port Harcourt, is the hometown of Captain Elechi Amadi, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated writers. Its traditions, landscapes, and way of life inspired the settings of some of his famous novels, including The Concubine and The Great Ponds. A visit to Aluu offers a chance to experience the culture and environment that shaped Amadi’s timeless stories.

Found on Bonny Island, Lighthouse Beach is a breathtaking stretch of shoreline along the Atlantic Ocean. Its unique coastline, fresh sea breeze, and the historic Finima lighthouse make it a special spot for relaxation and sightseeing. Visitors can enjoy peaceful walks, photography, or simply take in the natural beauty of the ocean view.

Port Harcourt Pleasure Park

A favorite destination in the city, Pleasure Park combines beautiful green lawns, a scenic lake, and fun activities for all ages. Visitors can enjoy playgrounds, restaurants, boat rides, mini-golf, and adventure games. The park also has a modern cinema, making it a complete spot for relaxation, entertainment, and family outings.

Ikuru Beach Resort

Situated along one of West Africa’s longest coastlines, Ikuru Beach Resort is known for its wide sandy shores and calm, natural setting. It’s an ideal getaway for swimming, sunbathing, and seaside picnics. The surrounding Andoni area is also rich in culture and nature, making it a perfect destination for both relaxation and exploration.

St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Bonny

Built in 1865, St. Stephen’s is Nigeria’s oldest Anglican cathedral and a cornerstone of Bonny’s spiritual heritage. It was established at the invitation of King William Dappa Pepple, who converted to Christianity during a visit to England and sought to bring the faith to his kingdom. In 1864, the Church Missionary Society sent Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther, the first African Anglican bishop to lead the mission, and he dedicated the cathedral in 1889. Inside, visitors can still see his original bishop’s throne in the Lady Chapel, along with relics such as the boat believed to have brought the first bishop, offering a living link to Bonny’s history.
